During the month of June 2019, I took part in, and completed my High Voltage Switching Operations course with Dale West.

Although being an electrician I had absolutely no background in High Voltage Switching.

For the first couple of days of the course I was nervous and was feeling that there was a potential for me to fail. Dale West could read my mood and was only more encouraging towards my efforts. He reassured me that if I continued the hard work that I was putting into the course I was succeed. He likened me to the story of 'The Tortoise and the Hare' and by day 5 of the course I could tell that I would easily pass.

High Voltage Switching must leave no room for error and this fact was drummed into us by Dales teaching methods. The way in which Dale delivered the course was nothing short of exceptional. I would not call myself scholastic by any means and I'm not normally one to enjoy a classroom environment though this course was different. Thanks to Dale and his teaching methods I walked away from the course feeling happy and very confident with the new skills that Dale had just helped me acquire.

Fast forwarding twelve months I was asked to perform my first lot of High Voltage Switching. A whole ten days of switching to be exact. Again, at first, I was nervous but after sitting down and studying my single line diagram all of the knowledge that Dale had taught me twelve months prior came flooding back. The result was 15 perfect switching programs that were executed safely without a single hick up.

Dales High Voltage Switching course is easily the best course that I have ever done, and I would not hesitate in steering anyone else who may be interested in partaking in it in Dale Wests direction. The way in which Dale delivers the course criteria is a credit to his skill set and teaching methodology.

EMPLOYER OF APPRENTICE

I had an apprentice who was struggling with TAFE, didn’t seem to understand what was needed, was struggling with the workload and the content.

This lead to low motivation levels and he wanted to quit the trade.

I notice Dale West’s linked in post and thought I would give Dale a call to see if he could help.

Dale provided personalised training and didn’t give up on my apprentice.

He went onto to pass the course that was his second year. He is now 3rd year going on 4th and has passed the remaining TAFE levels easily.

He was recently awarded most improved apprentice on the WestConnex tunnel site in Sydney.

No small feat as there are dozens of apprentices onsite.

I have no doubt this is due to Dale’s coaching. I cannot recommend Dale West highly enough.

APPRENTICE AND MUM OF 3

Hi, my names Liz Dixon. I’m entering the 2nd year of my Electrical Apprenticeship with Rio-Tinto.

I am a mum of 3 boys, work 12 hour shifts and don’t have a lot of spare time. I haven’t done any schooling in over 20 years and am well behind my peer TAFE apprentices academically and have less hands-on electrical experience.

My apprenticeship is everything to me (apart from my family) and I want to pass college, score a fulltime job after my apprenticeship and be the best electrician that I can be.

I signed up with Dale West after my 3rd TAFE block in my first year once I realised how behind I was, and that I may not pass TAFE if I didn’t do something quick smart.

I haven’t looked back. Dale has been my saviour. In my DC Circuit block, I was at the bottom of my class. I signed up with Dale, and in the next block, Magnetism and DC Motors and Generators, with Dale’s help, I went to the top of the class.

Dale pushes me, motivates me, he teaches me!! He helps me understand; text books can’t do that.

He’s always available for questions and support and I won’t be doing the next few years without him.

He is my saviour. He is worth his weight of gold!! I cannot thank him enough for what he does.
